Bonnie Crabtree

Bookkeeper

Bonnie was born in Minnesota, grew up in Michigan and in Alberta, Canada. She moved to Hayward, California with her family, at the age of 21, where she met and married her husband, Rick. Bonnie and her husband have been living in the Modesto area since 1989. Together they raised 3 children and fostered 6 other children through Sierra Vista Children's Center. Bonnie has a heart to serve and has been involved in many volunteer opportunities. She has served as church treasurer several different times throughout the years, been an adoptive parent, helped establish a church mission in Ceres, sings in the church choir, helped seniors with their technology devices at the senior center, and was a participant in the first Love Modesto event, among many others. She has a heart to share with others the love and acceptance she has experienced through her Savior Jesus Christ, and works with mission organizations, traveling all over the world.

Bonnie loves to travel and enjoys camping. She and her children spent many weekends in their popup tent trailer camping with friends of a popup trailer group. She loves to read and study the bible and watch sappy romance movies.

Bonnie is the first to admit that during her growing years she was not much of a student, until.... in grade 10 when having to select an elective class, chose a bookkeeping class because classmates told her it was an easy A. Unknown to her this was exactly where the Lord had placed her. She fell in love with bookkeeping, completed ALL her homework, helped other students, and even asked the teacher for more homework. She discovered how God had designed her. She has been doing bookkeeping in one capacity or another ever since then.

What is your role at Love Stanislaus County?

Bonnie works as the bookkeeper for Love Stanislaus County. She has several years of experience working in CPA firms and started her own bookkeeping service in 2014. Her passion is to help her client's keep their books up to date and useful for making solid business decisions.

What do you love the most about your job?

It has been rewarding to organize the books for Love Stanislaus County so that the director and board can have a clear understanding of their financial position. This job helps to anchor my week as I leave my home office and can focus with little distraction. Love Stanislaus County has put together a great team and I enjoy working with each member.

What do you love most about living in Stanislaus County?

I like how Modesto is centrally located. You can visit the wine country, ski in the mountains, swim in the ocean or even go to Disneyland. The weather is mild, no freezing temperatures in the winter or wild thunderstorms or tornadoes. Can go outside much of the year without needing a coat. I love how many churches we have in Modesto and the strong spirit of helping those in need.

In what ways do you participate in the community?

I am a member of a local church, sing in the choir and participate in bible studies. I volunteer wherever and whenever I am able. I participate in the Love Modesto events. I work with many local small businesses through my bookkeeping service. Currently am hosting a couple of women as they prepare and move on to the next stage in their lives.
